From Russia with Love

For some reason, bad news seem to follow us kitties frequently.
First, Maxi died.
Then, Angel got lost after an evening stroll. We missed her so much and she is irreplaceable. We talked about her all the time, hoping that she will come home one day.
Worst of all, Pepi, our British shorthair ventured out of our home and into the neighbour's compound and she got attacked by a some fierce dogs.

So, it's back to Princess and Popi, our Scottish fold.
Other owners have cats for years and we seem to be losing ours unfortunately.
After Pepi disastrous and fatal venture outside, our human father fenced up everything so the cats are indoor at all times.

Some pictures to all..
So, here's Popi after staying with us for 2 months.
He has grown A LOT. His favourite is raw beef and he's on a mixed diet, raw and some mixture of canned (cutting down a lot now), and very little kibbles.
Popi is super fun and full of energy. Loves being around people, always in the kitchen (every cat's fav place) and jumps really high.  He has huge eyes that stares forever and very friendly, though you can't hold him for too long. Popi came all the way from Thailand. Folds are not easy to find here and they are expensive.

Our latest addition is another British shorthair.
Mummy said he's 'From Russia with Love...' after that famous Bond movie, why?
Because he came all the way from Russia :)
He's about 3 months and super, duper friendly.
After the initial hissing and being cautious among us 3 kitties, by day 3, he is out of the cage and roaming around with us. He really LOVES being around people all the time. The friendliest among 3 of us for now, he will sit still and let anyone stroke him till he falls asleep.
Mummy calls him an 'eating machine'..because, he really eats a lot! Raw or cooked, he is fine.
He is now into his 6th day with us and gets along very well with every kitty and human.
British shorthair are another cat that is available but not abundant over here, so he did cost the family a humongous amount of money.

Finally, I am pretty happy with the company so far. We have the entire house to ourselves, so we practically roam everywhere whenever we want to. There is a plan for an outdoor permanent space for us. For now, we spend every morning and evening in an outdoor cage, but the family wants us to have a larger space complete plants and must be near the fish pond.

For now, I am the only Persian at home, the other two Shorthairs are boisterous and play a lot.
For me, its snooze time most of the day.

Some after thoughts from our human family:
Cat business is BIG business.  We do see a few family owned business breeding their cats with love and care as if they are part of the family. Unfortunately, we see too many back yard breeders who breed just for the money, nothing else. Cats were caged up 24/7/365 and looked sickly, there living only for one reason : to re-produce and the kittens are sold for a whatever profit that can be made.  We can only hope they get into a loving home.

Till then...meow :)

JACK, our Scottish fold

So, the family finally named the new cat, Jack.
For a few days, he had no name. They had a huge problem figuring what to name him and settled with Jack.
Oh...the list of names that was offered was totally ridiculous, but Jack it is for our Fold.

No more cold reception for Jack.
After 3 days of starring competition, he is now well adapted into our home.
He plays (a lot), sleep and eat with us.
He is like this super charged rocket with endless energy. However, he has a little sniffle and sneeze.
So, off they both went to the vet. Yep, Pepi and Jack!
Hooray for me, my shots are not due yet.
Mom said they were really worried in their carrier and protested, but it's no point.
The shots were and medicine were delivered, with or without protest.
Above, you can see Pepi grooming Jack. She does a few times every day.
I think Pepi is the motherly cat among us. She likes to groom all of us.
We don't mind actually.

So, here is Jack.
Happily settled down into our home.
He has this beautiful cream coat with a white-powdery looking face.

More cats dilemma?

It's more than a week gone now and the chances of finding Angel seems to be fading away.
There is not one day we do not miss her.
Not one day we do not find her.
We wondered what happened to her.
She has been so close to us, so the chances of her just running away and leaving us seems impossible.
It's not easy for anyone to catch her too.
Maybe she had an accident :((
If she was captured by someone, we hope the new family will love her as we do.

Meanwhile....

We are down to 2 cats.
Our cats dilemma continued.
Baby...or now more frequently called, Pepi is growing up fast. Healthy and good.
She was supposed to be a British Shorthair. That's what the breeder said.
We do have our doubts - huge ones. While she looks like one, her fur is nowhere like one.
While the humans pondered over her breed, Pepi really could not care less.
As long as the food keeps coming, she seems very happy.

We have a new toy...more about that later.

BABY BLUE - Our British Shorthair

Hello folks !

Today, we talk about our youngest kitten.
Our British Shorthair, Baby Blue...somehow, all of us have not really settled with a proper name yet, so the name will change soon.

She came home as this little pot bellied kitten at 3 months old.
Typical of British shorthair, she was not shy and utterly playful.
Many times the family wondered if she really was a pure Brit.

Here she is playing outside. Outdoor has been a HUGE favourite of all cats now. We look forward to outdoor every morning and evening. We don't even mind the big cage.  Here is Baby, amber eyes and all.

She's a mean eating and playing machine, but loves the calmness outside in the company of birds.

Her cheeks are filling up very well, another characteristics of British Shorthairs.  However, Mummy said her fur is still not as dense...maybe later.

When she's not playing, she has this serious stare in her. However, throw her a ball, and she'll have all of us entertained for hours.

We Persians are okay with Baby. She even sleeps with us at times and here are all three of us during meal times. First to arrive and last to leave as usual. Baby certainly gives Maxi a run for his food, they both eat really a lot!!

Till then...

FEELING BLUE...

BLUE is the feeling I have nowadays.
Our feline brood has extended.
We have another new kitten to our existing 3. So, it's 4 now.
Kinda crowded actually. Mummy said that's it and no more. 4 is more than all our human family can handle.
4 X more food to feed, and 4 X more poop to clear.
So, I hope for everyone's sake, 4 is enough.
Baby Blue is the latest kitten. She's 3 months old and a British Shorthair.
A real firecracker who has this enormous amount of energy to play non-stop.
So far, the best 'fur-baller' at home. She's really, really good with the ball.  It's her, Maxi and Angel chasing the ball all over the house. A kitten with a huge appetite too! I don't know why they called her a Blue British Shorthair, because she looks anything but blue to me. More like gray. Or maybe a huge gray mouse :(
She fitted in super easy with everyone and plays with Angel most of the time. Our human kiddies like to compare us 'the oranges' against the 'blacks..or greys' because that's more like the colour of this British Shorthair...which a perpetual grin on her face !
After more than a week and the humans still have a problem naming her, so she's Baby Blue for now...but I am sure the name will change soon.

Here's Angel lounging on the chair. We are all getting used to her. Us Persians like to lie low and sleep under all cabinets, tables and chair. So, Angel came and broke all the rules. She sleeps on the bed, which was a huge no-no for the human family. She jumps on all counter, tables and chair. Even that Maxi guy started to move to higher ground. So after a weeks of unsuccessful training and re-training, the human family gave up and left her to be at her fav spot. The couch. Her being on the couch means 'patting time' and everyone can pat and stroke her. Otherwise, she will not let anyone cuddle or hold her.

Overall, we're good. All 4 of us. Playtime is always between Maxi and I, and the Blue and Angel are a pair.

Over the weekend, we got sent to a pet hotel. All of us are not happy. Confined space is not norm for us as we roam free the entire house. Being in a noisy environment especially with dogs are were also not fun, but human family had a trip out, so we had to go there for a night. However, one night felt like one week...so, please don't send us anywhere anymore.

Mummy wonder if there is such thing as pet sitting.
If someone can come over and feed us would be perfect, then we do not need to leave our home.
Or, if there is such possibilities of exchange pet sitting? Where pet owners can work out some sort of schedule to send the pets to each other house for a day or two. Definitely beats the idea of staying in a pet hotel.

Finally, Maxi got sent to the groomers again in a short period. He got a much shorter cut.  Mummy said it's much easier to manage because, otherwise, he's this huge hairy beast roaming around in the house.

More pictures soon..
Princess :)
